Pisces

Composition for orchestra

2016Composition for orchestra

Pisces was written in 2016 as a composition for orchestra. Its starting point was a psychological image associated with sensitivity, inwardness, hesitation and an intensified awareness of changing emotional states.

The music develops through moments of movement and suspension, allowing gestures and textures to emerge, recede and remain unresolved. Rather than pushing continuously toward a single destination, the composition gives space to uncertainty, pause and reflection.

The title does not function as a literal representation of the zodiac sign. Instead, Pisces provides a loose conceptual frame for a musical character that is introspective, fluid and emotionally unsettled — a state in which perception remains active even when action is temporarily suspended.
